Growing Diversity in Schools: Challenges and Opportunities

Yvette Donado

Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer, Educational Testing Service, Ewing, New Jersey

A “proud Latina,” Yvette Donado, will address the rapid demographic change and the challenges institutions face to keep up; “minorities” being majorities in many school districts; Latino test scores as compared to other cohorts, and what it all signifies for educators. Participants will learn about the American cultural “tsunami” and find out how teachers and administrators can deal with it.

Yvette Donado oversees human resources, facilities, and corporate quality and process management — leading a staff of over 400 employees in an organization that employs more than 3,000 people. She also chairs the Council on the Mission, an executive body that ensures the alignment of ETS programs and services with the mission to advance quality and equity in education worldwide. In more than a decade at ETS, she has created a sustainable talent brand, “Learning for Business Results,” to accelerate leadership succession; consistently increased employee engagement as measured by the Employee Commitment Index (exceeding National Employee Study levels); and increased productivity by incorporating enviable benefits, wellness programs and flexibility in policies that foster work-life balance. She also spearheaded ETS’s initiative to address the needs of the nation’s English learners.
